The blogs are:

Library Blog - The purpose of this blog is to keep you up to date with new services and changes in services provided by the LKS. Changes to NHS Athens Accounts will also be documented here. Please click here to view the blog and please click here to sign up to it.

New Electronic Journal

As part of the Internurse Collection of Journals, all staff now have electronic access to a new journal.

Journal of Renal Nursing (JRN) is a new bi-monthly multi-disciplinary clinical journal, launched in May 2009, for nurses and other allied healthcare professionals specializing in renal care.

The journal is focused on promoting excellence in clinical practice and will provide up-to-date accessible, practical and visually stimulating information, written by experts and peer-reviewed by leading authorities in the field, to help inform, challenge and support anyone working within or alongside renal units and to facilitate evidence-based practice."

All users also now have access to Royal Marsden Manual Online. This is the online version of The Royal Marsden Hospital Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures and can be accessed by clicking here. The manual includes over 350 evidence-based clinical procedures related to every aspect of care, from handwashing to cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

New Procedure for Requesting Journal Articles

We would like to inform you of the new procedure for ordering journal articles from the Library & Knowledge Service:

1. You must first check yourself if the article is available electronically*. You can do this at http://www.library.nhs.uk/booksandjournals/journals/Default.aspx
To access the journals you must first login with your NHS Athens details.
*NB The Library will no longer email you articles that are available electronically.

Please visit the Library and Knowledge section on your Intranet for guides on how to access electronic journals.
If you need any help with this process or would like to book onto a training course please contact the Library. Contact details are available on the Library and Knowledge section of your Intranet.

2. All requests must now be submitted on a request form.
Once you have checked for your journal article and if it is not available electronically please request it via the Library by filling out a Request Form (Please see the Library & Knowledge Section on your Intranet)
You can use the online form or email us a word version of the Article Request Form.

We will appreciate your cooperation in following this new procedure. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the Library.
